The entertainment scenes in Abuja took as glamorous turn during the Valentine night celebrations in and around the FCT. Lovers thronged to various night clubs and spots with their heart throbs to observe the legendary Valentine ritual.
Baytown lounge at Gudu District witnessed an unprecedented influx of couples as early as 8 pm on the eventful night with a complementary red carpet photographs from the management. On the band stand was Lizon, the Afrocentric and energetic performer who held the crowd spell bound with her rendition of popular songs from her repertoire, to the admiration of revelers. Comedians and jesters were on hand to add flavour to the show extravaganza with their ribs cracking jokes that made the night a memorable one.
At Rita-Lori hotels and gardens, Garki the mammoth crowd had a dose of the enchantment Eve used to dazzle Adam in the Garden of Eden. Lovers were head over heels strolling in, holding hands and shuffling to the rhythm of romantic songs from the resident band led by Philip Joe. Next was the Stick Dancers, a dancing crew of acrobatic jingoism that thrilled the audience with their dance comedy and intricate stage craft, sending the bemused crowd into frenzy. The highlight of the night was an overjoyed man who threw caution to the winds and came to the stage, brandishing a ring, knelt down and proposed to his bewildered girlfriend.
Blakes Excellent Resort, Ahmadu Bello Way was a beehive of night crawlers that watched the spectacular show that featured various artistes which include dancers, comedians and magicians with their tricks.
Delectable song bird, Blesskon held sway the Dove Resort, Mabushi, a thriving entertainment enclave in the FCT where music and business perfectly blends together like bread and butter.
Queen Julieta and hubby, Mike Wonder at Pent Estate, Lokogoma ran the show to the maximum, thrilling lovers to old school love songs to make the night a truly lovers affair. Master guitarist, king Faj and the Gurus band stole the show at the Blu Cabana, Jabi where they put a fantastic performance that confirmed them as entertainment gurus.
Father Valentine must be wondering in his grave what has happened to his innocent thought of fulfilling the wishes of young lovers when he decided against the repressive law of a wicked king and wedded a couple, then paid the supreme price with his life for doing the needful. Truly and really, it was a night of splendour, merry making and jubilation of the highest order.
